What kind of ring can I get within my budget?
We’ll help you design a beautiful ring that fits your budget. Whether you’re working with $3,000 or $300,000, we tailor the design, metal, and diamond or gemstone to get you the best look and value. We can show you a range of options at different price points, explain what affects pricing, and guide you to get the best balance of size, quality, and beauty.
What matters more: cut, colour, clarity, or carat?
Cut (shape) is the most important for design, it determines which design we can use to bring out the best qualities of your diamond. Colour and clarity are also important but can be balanced based on your preferences and budget. Carat affects size, but we help you maximise look for value. Our goal is to make the ring look stunning, not just check boxes.
What’s the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds—same chemical structure, hardness, and sparkle as mined ones—but grown in a lab. They’re 40–60% more affordable and environmentally friendly. Natural diamonds are rarer and may hold more long-term value. We offer both with full transparency and certification so you can choose what aligns best with your values.
Do I need to pay all at once? Do you offer payment plans?
No, you don’t need to pay all at once. We require a 50% deposit to secure your design and stone. The balance is due before pickup or delivery. We also offer flexible payment plans to make it easier to manage your budget.
Can you use heirloom diamonds or gold?
We love giving new life to sentimental diamonds. We assess all stones to ensure they’re suitable for remounting. While we don’t reuse old gold due to porosity risks, we do offer 100% of its value in store credit toward your new piece.
What if I don’t know their ring size?
That’s completely normal. We have a few tricks to help you guess accurately, and the first resize within 90 days is free. We also offer proposal settings that can be sized later if needed.
How long does a custom engagement ring take?
The full process, from consultation to finished ring, usually takes 6-10 weeks. If you’re on a tight timeline, we offer rush services using in-stock stones and pre-approved CAD designs.
I want custom design, can I see what the ring will look like before it's made?
Yes. We provide CAD renders within five business days of confirming your stone and design brief. You’ll be able to review and approve the design before production begins.
What if I find a cheaper diamond online?
Online listings don’t always show the full picture—cut quality, brilliance, and eye-clean clarity make a big difference. We only recommend diamonds that offer exceptional beauty and value, and our rings come with full support, design expertise, and lifetime care.
Are your diamonds conflict-free and ethically sourced?
Yes. 100% of our natural diamonds comply with the Kimberley Process, and we offer traceable lab-grown diamonds and Australian sapphires as sustainable options.
Do you offer gemstone alternatives like sapphires or rubies?
Yes, we offer a wide range of beautiful alternatives including Australian sapphires, spinels, rubies, and more. These are perfect for adding colour or finding unique value at different price points.
Do you provide valuations for insurance?
Yes. Independent valuations are free for items over $5,000 and available for $150 on items under $5,000 upon request.
Is resizing or maintenance included?
The first resize is complimentary within 90 days. We also offer free annual cleaning and check-ups. For white gold pieces, we recommend yearly servicing (plating or polishing) which is available at additional cost.
What warranty do you offer?
We offer a 7-year manufacturing warranty covering craftsmanship and setting faults. Stone loss is not covered unless the item is insured, which we highly recommend.
Can I upgrade the diamond later?
Yes. We offer 80% store credit toward a future upgrade, provided the original stone is in excellent condition and accompanied by its original certification.
Can you ship the ring interstate or internationally?
Yes. All parcels are shipped using fully insured, signature-on-delivery couriers.
Can we design the wedding band later?
Absolutely. We design engagement rings with future bands in mind to ensure they sit flush and complement one another. You’re welcome to return anytime to design a matching wedding or eternity band.
What happens if I change my mind?
As custom rings are made-to-order, they are not refundable. However, we’ll ensure you’re confident in the design and stone selection before we start production. Your happiness is our priority.

02 What can I expect during my consultation?
Your consultation is a relaxed, one-on-one experience with Felix Gallagher. Together, you’ll discuss your ideas, explore design possibilities, compare diamonds or gemstones, and receive expert advice tailored to your style, budget and lifestyle. There is no obligation to purchase-our goal is simply to help you make an informed decision.
03 Can I book a consultation with Felix Gallagher?
Yes. All consultations are personally led by Felix Gallagher, who has decades of experience designing bespoke fine jewellery. His expertise ensures every consultation is tailored to your individual vision and requirements.
04 How long does a consultation take?
Consultations typically last around 45 minutes, giving you plenty of time to discuss your ideas, explore options and ask questions. If your project requires additional time, we’re always happy to arrange a follow-up appointment.
05 Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to bring your partner, family member or a trusted friend. If multiple people will be attending, simply let us know when booking so we can prepare accordingly.
06 Do I need to know exactly what I want before my consultation?
Not at all. Many of our clients come to us with only a few ideas or inspiration images. We’ll guide you through the different styles, diamonds, gemstones and design possibilities until you feel confident in the direction you’d like to take.

03 What's the difference between natural and laboratory-grown diamonds?
Laboratory-grown diamonds are chemically, physically and optically identical to natural diamonds. The difference lies only in their origin. Laboratory-grown diamonds offer exceptional value, while natural diamonds remain prized for their rarity and long-term desirability. We offer both and will help you determine which option best suits your preferences.
04 Do you offer gemstone alternatives such as sapphires, emeralds or rubies?
Yes. We source a beautiful selection of coloured gemstones including Australian sapphires, emeralds, rubies and spinels. Whether you’re looking for a unique engagement ring or simply love colour, we’ll help you find the perfect stone.
05 What if I don't know their ring size?
That’s completely normal. We can help estimate a suitable size using a few simple methods, and your first resize is complimentary within 90 days. If you’re planning a surprise proposal, we can also recommend designs that are easier to resize if required.
06 Can I upgrade my diamond later?
Yes. Eligible diamonds can be upgraded in the future, with 80% of the original purchase price credited towards a larger or higher-value diamond, provided the original stone is returned in excellent condition with its grading certificate.
07 Can we design the wedding band later?
Absolutely. We design every engagement ring with future wedding bands in mind, ensuring they sit beautifully together. When you’re ready, we’ll help you create a perfectly matched wedding or eternity band.
CUSTOM DESIGN
01 How long does a custom engagement ring take?
Most bespoke engagement rings are completed within 6-10 weeks, from your initial consultation through to the finished piece. If you’re working towards a specific proposal date, please let us know-we may be able to accommodate an expedited timeline.
02 Can I see what my ring will look like before it's made?
Yes. We’ll provide detailed CAD renders for your approval before production begins, giving you the opportunity to review the design and request any refinements. A 3D-printed model is also available upon request.
03 What's included in the price of a custom ring?
Your quotation includes your chosen diamond or gemstone, bespoke design consultation, CAD design, manufacturing in your selected precious metal, professional finishing and quality assurance. Pieces valued over $5,000 also include a complimentary independent valuation.
04 Can I customise an existing Gallagher design?
Absolutely. Many of our existing designs can be personalised with different diamonds, coloured gemstones, precious metals or design details, allowing you to create something uniquely yours.
05 How does the custom design process work?
The process begins with a consultation where we discuss your ideas, inspiration and budget. We’ll then source suitable diamonds or gemstones, develop a bespoke design, prepare CAD renders for approval, and once you’re completely happy, your piece will be handcrafted by our skilled jewellers before final finishing and collection.

03 Can I change or cancel my order after it's been placed?
Changes may be possible before production has commenced. Once manufacturing begins, changes or cancellations may no longer be possible. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to discuss your order.

01 Can you ship my jewellery interstate or internationally?
Yes. We offer fully insured shipping throughout Australia and internationally using secure courier services.
02 How long will it take to receive my order?
Delivery times vary depending on whether your piece is ready to wear or made to order. We’ll provide an estimated completion date during your consultation and keep you updated throughout the process.
03 Is my jewellery insured during transit?
Yes. Every parcel is fully insured until it has been safely delivered and signed for.
04 Will I need to sign for my delivery?

05 Can I collect my order from the Brisbane showroom?

AFTERCARE & REPAIRS
01 Is resizing or maintenance included?
Your first ring resize is complimentary within 90 days of collection. We also offer complimentary annual cleaning and inspections to help keep your jewellery looking its best.
02 What warranty do you offer?
Every Gallagher piece is backed by a 7-year manufacturing warranty, covering workmanship and manufacturing defects. We also recommend insuring your jewellery against accidental loss, theft or damage.
03 Do you provide valuations for insurance?
Yes. Independent insurance valuations are complimentary for jewellery valued over $5,000. Valuations for pieces below this value are available upon request for an additional fee.
04 Do you offer complimentary cleaning and inspections?
Yes. We encourage clients to visit us annually for a complimentary professional clean and inspection, allowing us to check settings and ensure your jewellery remains in excellent condition.
05 How often should I have my jewellery checked?
We recommend having your engagement ring or frequently worn jewellery professionally inspected every 12 months to ensure the settings remain secure and to maintain its appearance.
06 Can you repair jewellery that wasn't purchased from Gallagher?
In many cases, yes. Our workshop can assess jewellery purchased elsewhere and advise whether repair, restoration or remodelling is possible.
07 How should I care for my jewellery?
To keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend removing it before heavy physical activity, avoiding contact with harsh chemicals, storing pieces separately to prevent scratching, and bringing them in for regular professional cleaning and inspections.
